Position Overview

The Community Outreach Worker (COW) plays a vital role in delivering a variety of clinical services to adults and their families who are impacted by mental health challenges, substance use, or gambling disorders. This position operates in both clinical and community environments, providing essential services such as screening, assessment, brief interventions, case management, and both individual and group therapy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive screenings and assessments to identify client needs.
  • Provide brief interventions and case management to support recovery and wellness.
  • Facilitate individual and group treatment sessions, utilizing evidence-based practices.
  • Act as an advocate for clients, navigating resources and services within Mental Health and Addictions.
  • Collaborate with community organizations to enhance service delivery and support.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, with registration or eligibility for registration with a professional regulatory body.
  • A minimum of one year of post-BSW clinical experience in Mental Health and Addictions.
  • Strong skills in screening and risk assessment, including suicide risk evaluation.
  • Experience in implementing harm reduction strategies and recovery-oriented practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and families.
  • Knowledge of community resources and program development methodologies.
  • Ability to manage crisis situations effectively and provide support.

Work Environment

This is a permanent full-time position requiring 75 hours biweekly, with potential travel to various sites as needed.

Compensation

The hourly wage for this position is $42.01.
