Position Overview

We are seeking qualified candidates to deliver instruction in the Health Care Assistant Certificate program at North Island College.

This role involves teaching practical courses to a cohort of Health Care Assistant students. Practicum placements will occur in various healthcare settings, necessitating reliable transportation for travel.

Course Details:
HCA 140: Practice Experience 1
HCA 145: Practice Experience 2
HCA 150: Practice Experience 3

The ideal candidate will employ innovative strategies for the preparation and delivery of practice activities, demonstrate initiative in addressing student concerns, and utilize facilitation skills to manage conflicts effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Instructional Duties:
- Develop and prepare educational materials for diverse learning environments.
- Utilize varied teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles.
- Provide guidance in a supportive and nurturing atmosphere.
- Maintain regular availability for student consultations during office and class hours.
- Clearly outline learning outcomes and evaluation methods for courses.
- Conduct assessments and keep students informed of their academic progress.
- Submit grades promptly in accordance with institutional policies.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and attendance.

2. Professional Engagement:
- Stay informed about and adhere to college policies and educational strategies.
- Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the development of educational goals.
- Address health and safety concerns in collaboration with the appropriate committees.

Qualifications:
- Practical Nursing credential or BSN degree.
- Minimum of two years of experience teaching adults, preferably in a postsecondary context.
- Experience in gerontological care and working with older adults.
- Current registration with the relevant professional body and a valid CPR certification.

Skills and Competencies:
- Proficient in utilizing diverse instructional methods to engage learners.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Familiarity with online learning platforms and educational technology.

- Compliance with immunization requirements and criminal record checks is mandatory.
