Position Overview:

As a Senior Project Accountant, you will be integral to our corporate services team, providing essential operational support. Reporting to the Senior Operations Finance Manager, your role will encompass proactive project accounting, management of invoicing and collections, and ensuring compliance with corporate strategies and policies.

Key Qualifications:

  • Education: A minimum of a two-year diploma in Accounting or a related discipline; CPA designation is preferred.
  • Experience: 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in project accounting or a similar field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Software Proficiency: Familiarity with Deltek Vision software is a plus.
  • Technical Skills: Strong background in accounts receivable, invoicing, and project analysis.
  • Analytical Skills: Exceptional analytical abilities with a strong attention to detail.
  • MS Office Skills: Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational capabilities, adept at managing multiple priorities.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and French, with the ability to manage challenging interactions professionally.
  • Professional Experience: Experience in a professional services setting is advantageous.
  • Team and Independent Work: Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Driver's License: A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle are required.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Initiate new projects, establish billing terms, define phases, and finalize projects in the accounting system.
  • Financial Oversight: Conduct project costing, revenue, and budget assessments, and perform revenue recognition and work-in-progress evaluations.
  • Contract Management: Assist in managing project contracts and ensuring proper documentation is maintained.
  • Invoicing and Collections: Oversee the invoicing and collections process, including preparing and issuing monthly project invoices, reconciling client payments, and managing accounts receivable.
  • Communication and Coordination: Facilitate internal communications with project managers, prepare billing summaries, respond to inquiries, and update the accounting system with Purchase Orders.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Manage backlog and pipeline reporting, analyze financial data, and identify opportunities for improving financial and operational practices.
  • Account Reconciliation: Reconcile General Ledger accounts as needed.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Undertake other duties and project work as assigned.
