Job Overview
As a key member of our team, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing and providing leadership for the harvesting, planning, and silviculture operations on AV Group's Crown Timber Licenses and Freehold Lands.
Key Responsibilities
- Woodlands Budget Management
Deliver a comprehensive woodlands budget in a challenging wood market, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives.
Wood Supply Chain OptimizationDeliver high-quality and cost-effective wood to our two NB Mills located in Nackawic and Atholville, maintaining healthy wood inventories by species and form according to our safety stocks policy.
Cost Reduction and Process ImprovementWork closely with Unit Heads and Central Operations to identify opportunities for reducing wood costs and improving fiber yield and quality.
Contract Negotiation and ManagementNegotiate wood contracts for price and volume with market participants and the government alike under the terms of AVG, ensuring optimal terms and conditions.
Business Acumen and LeadershipUnderstand the impact of Woodlands department decisions on the company's P&L, providing strategic leadership to the Woodlands team and the AVG team.
Safety Culture and AmbassadorshipLive our safety culture and be a safety ambassador in the field, ensuring a safe working environment for all employees.
Requirements
- Education
Bachelor's degree in Forestry or Forestry Engineering; MBA considered a plus.
SkillsStrong computer skills, including MS Office Suite; strong commercial skills.
