Position Overview
Parsons Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Environmental Project Specialist to oversee and direct environmental assessments and remediation initiatives of various scales and complexities. This role entails the supervision of junior professionals and technical staff engaged in field investigations, alongside responsibilities for budget management, client interaction, and the preparation and review of reports.
Key Responsibilities:
- Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Prepare correspondence, detailed reports, and presentations for regulatory bodies, clients, and senior management.
- Manage interdisciplinary teams of professionals and support staff.
- Integrate competing elements into planning and execution to ensure smooth project flow.
- Act as the primary company representative with clients and subcontractors during project execution, ensuring adherence to instructions and commitments.
- Engage in negotiations with regulatory agencies and participate in public meetings on behalf of clients.
- Collaborate with project managers and team members to develop budgets, schedules, and plans, ensuring project goals are met or exceeded.
- Work closely with key project individuals to devise and implement action plans to address potential cost overruns or delays, or to manage significant changes in project scope.
- Promote technical and commercial excellence through the application of Quality Assurance processes, monitoring project progress and reporting significant milestones and any conditions affecting cost or schedule.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical/business field.
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in the environmental sector.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a solid understanding of industry practices and regulations, including Alberta Tier 1 and Tier 2 Soil and Groundwater Remediation Guidelines.
- A diverse background in environmental site assessments, remediation, risk assessments, field sampling (soils, groundwater, and surface water), and reclamation is advantageous.
