- Health Education and Promotion: Provide patients with the knowledge and skills necessary to maintain a healthy lifestyle, including healthy eating habits, exercise, and stress management.
- Person-Centered Care: Deliver care that is tailored to the unique needs and preferences of each patient, incorporating knowledge of mental health challenges and cognitive deficits.
- Patient Needs Assessment: Identify and respond to patient needs in a timely and effective manner, ensuring that their physical and emotional needs are met.
- Documentation and Reporting: Accurately document patient responses to treatment and report any unexpected outcomes to the Registered Nurse.
- Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with the Registered Nurse to manage complex patient situations and ensure seamless care transitions.
- Compliance and Accountability: Demonstrate a strong understanding of The Royal's vision, values, and policies, and adhere to the College of Nurses of Ontario Standards for RPNs.
- Professional Development: Engage in ongoing learning and education to enhance knowledge and skills, staying up-to-date with best practices in mental health care.
- Medication Administration and Treatments: Administer medications and perform treatments within the RPN's scope of practice, adhering to applicable regulations and policies.
- Teamwork and Communication: Foster a supportive and collaborative work environment, promoting effective communication and teamwork among interdisciplinary team members.
- Education and Certification: Graduate of a recognized Diploma Program in Practical Nursing, with current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Experience: Minimum of two years recent experience working with adults with psychiatric/mental health illness, with a strong understanding of CNO Standards and relevant legislation.
- Skills and Knowledge: Strong knowledge of mechanical lifts, transferring, and positioning techniques, as well as basic computer skills and English language proficiency (level A-). Bilingualism (English/French) is considered an asset.
The Royal Mental Health Centre offers a competitive salary range of $35.36 to $37.05 per hour, as well as opportunities for professional growth and development in a dynamic and supportive work environment.
