Holcim operates in the construction sector and is currently seeking a seasonal, full-time Screed Operator.
Key Responsibilities:
The responsibilities associated with this position include, but are not limited to:
- Comprehensive training in the operation and capabilities of the screed on a paver.
- Collaborating effectively with team members to operate the paver.
- Conducting repair and maintenance tasks on the paver as directed by the plant foreman or lead hand.
- Engaging in physically demanding activities, including heavy lifting, bending, and twisting.
- Assisting with various job operations as required.
- Ensuring the safety of personnel, the community, and the environment.
- Completing daily equipment checklists diligently.
- Monitoring and maintaining the accurate thickness of asphalt.
- Overseeing material production to meet specifications.
- Ensuring a consistent feed to produce a high-quality product.
In addition to the above responsibilities, the ideal candidate will demonstrate sound judgment, prioritize safety, and communicate effectively within a team setting. This role is physically demanding and involves activities such as crouching, bending, lifting, and kneeling. A pre-employment medical clearance is required. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of adhering to safe work practices and completing field risk assessments.
Required Qualifications:
The ideal applicant will possess the following qualifications:
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience operating a screed.
- Familiarity with City of Edmonton Specifications.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Knowledge of the City of Edmonton and surrounding areas.
- Ability to interpret survey markings.
The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate sound judgment, prioritize safety, and communicate effectively within a team environment. This position is physically demanding and requires clearance on a pre-employment medical examination.
