Location: Richmond, BC
Pinchin is in search of an Environmental Safety Project Specialist to enhance our Consulting Team in Richmond.
As the Environmental Safety Project Specialist, you will report directly to the Project Manager and be integral to our operations by evaluating and supervising various workplaces and building structures across the province. Your key responsibility will be to detect hazardous substances such as asbestos, lead, mercury, and PCBs, ensuring that stringent health and safety protocols are adhered to before and during any disturbance or removal of these hazardous materials in preparation for building renovations or demolitions.
Your duties will include performing building evaluations, overseeing abatement field reviews, and drafting site assessment reports and technical documentation. Clear communication with your manager and client stakeholders will be crucial to ensuring that project goals and requirements are successfully achieved.

A Day in the Life of an Environmental Safety Project Specialist at Pinchin:
- Conduct site evaluations, inspections, and testing related to hazardous building materials
- Travel to various job sites within the region
- Interpret and analyze sample results in accordance with regulatory requirements
- Prepare technical documentation detailing assessment findings and recommendations
- Coordinate and oversee hazardous materials abatement subcontractors
- Collect and analyze air samples for asbestos, lead, and other hazardous materials
- Utilize and calibrate field sampling equipment and microscopes
- Collaborate with clients and subcontractors to ensure health, safety, and hygiene standards are met
- Foster and maintain positive relationships with colleagues and clients
What You Bring to the Pinchin Team:
- Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to follow detailed instructions
- Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively
- Experience in writing technical reports is an advantage
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams
- Willingness to work outside of standard business hours and participate in weekend rotations
- Readiness to travel for extended periods in remote locations
- Fieldwork experience is a plus
- Relevant post-secondary education or diploma is an asset
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations and guidelines is beneficial
- Understanding of building systems (structure, envelope, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.) is advantageous
- Experience in reading and interpreting floor plans is a plus
- Experience with environmental monitoring equipment is beneficial
- A vehicle, valid driver's license, and insurance are required for travel
- Security clearances may be necessary for access to certain job sites
