Position Overview:
The Middlesex Hospital Alliance is seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse to join our Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Critical Care Unit (CCU). This role is essential in providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Immediate availability for all shifts, including weekends and holiday rotations.
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients.
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Proof of vaccination or immunity records for measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, and COVID-19.
- Documentation of Tuberculosis skin testing conducted within the last year.
- Valid registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Proven ability to practice nursing at full scope within Ontario.
- Minimum of two years of Adult Critical Care Nursing experience within the last three years is preferred.
- Experience with ventilators and BiPap is preferred.
- PACU experience within the last three years is an asset.
- Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP) certification is required.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is preferred.
- Completion of a Critical Care Nursing course or equivalent is preferred.
- Proficiency in ECG monitoring and interpretation is preferred.
- Knowledge of critical care standards and practices.
- Experience in wound management and PICC line care.
- Competence in IV initiation, assessment, and documentation.
- Familiarity with CNO documentation standards and Electronic Health Record systems.
- Understanding of medical directives and delegated medical acts.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and evidence-based practice.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, critical thinking, and leadership skills.
- Ability to lead and collaborate effectively in a patient-centered care environment.
- Proficient in computer skills, particularly in Windows and Cerner systems.
- Dedication to continuous improvement and fostering change.
- Excellent attendance and customer service record.
- Knowledge of proper body mechanics in patient care.
