Job Summary

The Orthopaedic Technologist will work under the direction of the orthopaedic/plastic surgeons and in collaboration with other members of the healthcare team of professionals in the fracture clinic.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provides care to clients with orthopaedic problems through the application, adjustment, and removal of a variety of cast splints and traction fittings following medical orders of the ortho/plastic surgeon or the most responsible physician of the patient.
Accountabilities
  • Delivers high-quality patient care services in accordance with established standards and protocols.
  • Collaborates with healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care and treatment.
  • Provides education and support to patients and their families on orthopaedic conditions and treatment options.
  • Participates in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes.
Qualifications
  • Grade 12 or equivalent required.
  • Current registration with the Canadian Society of Orthopaedic Technologists preferred.
  • Three years of experience as an ortho technologist preferred.
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written) required.
  • Emergency experience required.
  • Good interpersonal skills, ability to work with a multidisciplinary team required.
  • Knowledge and use of basic computer programs preferred.
  • Must demonstrate Osler's Values of Respect, Excellence, Service, Compassion, Innovation, and Collaboration.
  • Good attendance and work record.
  • May be required to travel between and work at all Osler sites.
