As the Senior Consultant, Estate and Trust Leadership, you will be responsible for the successful implementation of solutions provided by Scotiatrust Estate and Trust Consultants (ETCs) within your designated area. Your leadership will focus on business growth and client integration. You will mentor, coach, and support the ETC team in your region, empowering them to achieve excellent business outcomes and provide outstanding service to clients and partners. This role also involves addressing ongoing training and development needs for the team and assisting with complex client relationships and files as necessary. You will actively engage in identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, including generating immediate fees and deferred revenue, and will participate in various business development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Lead and manage the ETC team effectively by:
    • Recruiting, onboarding, and nurturing team members, ensuring they have the necessary resources to thrive;
    • Providing continuous coaching and sales management to enhance the team's ability to achieve strong business results;
    • Ensuring adherence to policies and procedures while implementing suitable solutions;
    • Collaborating with the Regional Admin Lead to ensure adequate support for ETCs;
    • Serving as the primary point of escalation for new business approvals and pricing exceptions;
    • Offering expert guidance in estate planning and developing tailored recommendations.
  2. Contribute to the strategic planning and execution of the region's business objectives by:
    • Setting new business targets for immediate fees and legacy appointments and driving efforts to meet those goals;
    • Leading the ETCs through an annual business planning process to ensure targeted activities align with their objectives;
    • Collaborating with other Practice Leads to share best practices and coordinate national campaign efforts;
    • Proactively reaching out to prospective clients to address their estate planning needs;
    • Working with the Regional Director and Market Leads to build the annual profit plan, including expense projections for ETCs.
  3. Enhance advisor engagement and strengthen regional partnerships by:
    • Regularly connecting with local leaders to provide updates and gather input for effective collaboration;
    • Promoting ETCs and Scotiatrust solutions to advisors and partners, seeking opportunities for collaboration;
    • Building and maintaining a robust network of Centers of Influence (COIs) to facilitate mutual referrals.
  4. Provide expertise to support business development by:
    • Delivering presentations that educate both internal and external stakeholders;
    • Acting as a resource for ETCs regarding complex client situations;
    • Participating in client meetings to discuss the relevance of Scotiatrust solutions.
  5. Foster a customer-centric culture within the team to enhance client relationships and leverage broader organizational knowledge.
  6. Understand the Bank's risk appetite and culture in daily activities and decision-making.
  7. Create an environment that promotes efficient operations while ensuring compliance with operational risk, regulatory requirements, and conduct standards.
  8. Develop a high-performance culture and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, and motivates team members in an inclusive environment.
Do you possess the skills and qualifications necessary for success in this role?

  • STI, MTI, or TEP designation/diploma
  • Extensive experience with high-net-worth clients and their advisors
  • Strong leadership and people management capabilities
  • Comprehensive knowledge of wealth and estate planning strategies
  • Thorough understanding of the Scotia Wealth product and service offerings
  • Familiarity with products and services from the Scotiabank Group of Companies for client referrals
  • Excellent influencing and communication skills
