Job Title: Senior Tax Specialist
About the Role:
The Senior Tax Specialist will play a critical role in ensuring the company's tax compliance and strategy are aligned with its business objectives. This position will be responsible for preparing and reconciling tax filings, managing tax audits, and identifying opportunities for tax savings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and reconcile tax filings for utility and non-utility taxes, state and local sales/use taxes, property taxes, and excise taxes.
- Manage tax audits and negotiations with taxing authorities.
- Identify and pursue opportunities for tax savings through reverse audits and credits/incentives/grants.
- Partner with the business to identify and address tax considerations/opportunities related to operational initiatives.
- Initiate electronic payments for tax liabilities and maintain accurate records.
- Provide audit support and manage external tax auditor relations.
- Reconcile general tax general ledger accounts and propose corrective entries.
- Prepare underlying tax accrual data and post journal entries for monthly closes.
- Recommend process improvements related to tax duties.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required.
- 5+ years of experience in tax accounting, preferably with the Big 4 or in a corporate setting.
- Working knowledge of tax statutes and ability to apply them.
- CPA or Master's in Taxation preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate business transactions and communicate tax implications.
- Proven ability to use computer software and applications, including Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
- Demonstrated ability to establish rapport and effective working relationships with business partners, supervisors, and peers.
- Demonstrated ability to accomplish tasks independently and under tight timelines.
What We Offer:
A competitive salary range of $91,500 to $125,625 per year, commensurate with experience, education, and skills. A comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
