Job Summary:

Varsteel Ltd. is seeking a skilled Machine Operator to join our team in a fast-paced environment. As a Machine Operator, you will be responsible for operating light or heavy metalworking machines, checking products for correct shapes and dimensions, and troubleshooting issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate one or more light or heavy metalworking machines to fabricate structural steel components.
  • Check products for correct shapes, dimensions, and other specifications to ensure quality.
  • Troubleshoot issues and perform corrective action or minor repairs as needed.
  • Select and transport material to the work area manually or using a crane or hoist.
  • Document work completed and maintain accurate records.
  • Clean and lubricate equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Replace parts as required to maintain equipment efficiency.

Requirements:

  • 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in a metal shop or fabrication environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to read specifications and follow verbal instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 45 kg (100 lbs) and work in a physically demanding environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Metal shop experience or fabrication experience preferred.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with colleagues.
