Position Overview:
Are you a certified Mountain Bike Coach looking to share your passion for cycling at a premier mountain resort? We are in search of committed professionals to enhance our Sports School this summer as Mountain Biking Instructors & Guides. In this role, you will be responsible for teaching cyclists of varying skill levels the essential techniques to navigate and relish the trails with safety and confidence.
Compensation:
$26.25 per hour
Physical Requirements:
Medium, involving the handling of loads between 10 and 20 kg; primarily conducted in an outdoor environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver an exceptional mountain biking experience to both groups and individual guests, ensuring all programs are conducted in a safe, enjoyable, and engaging manner.
- Complete all assigned daily administrative tasks.
- Conduct appropriate risk assessments for hazards, features, and trail selections.
- Evaluate students' skill levels and design suitable activities.
- Adhere to all required operational guidelines and safety practices.
- Provide basic first aid and assist Patrol and Mountain Operations as necessary.
- Operate in accordance with the code of conduct and values of Sun Peaks Resort LLP.
- Perform additional duties as needed to ensure the effective operation of the department, including support for other departments and special events, orientations, and training programs.
- Off-bike responsibilities may be assigned based on operational needs and could include mechanical, administrative, and retail tasks.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Current First Aid certification recognized by the province of British Columbia.
- Must be 17 years of age or older.
- Mountain Bike Instructor Certification from a nationally recognized organization.
- Prior experience in mountain biking (racing, guiding, instruction).
- Physically capable of undertaking up to 6 hours of downhill riding in mountain conditions up to 6 days per week.
- Ability to safely demonstrate riding techniques to manage descents and ascents over various terrain conditions and obstacles.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency in a second language is advantageous.
- Familiarity with Sun Peaks Resort bike trails.
- Capability to perform basic bike repairs in the field.
