Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified English as a Second Language (ESL) Night Instructor to join our team at the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching English language skills to adult learners in a non-credit ESL and LINC class.

Key Responsibilities
  • Instruct English as a Second Language to CLB 5 and 6 learners
  • Develop and implement lesson plans to meet the needs of adult learners
  • Assess student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a cohesive and effective learning environment
Requirements
  • Current TESL Ontario Certification (OCELT)
  • Completion of CLB Bootcamp and Introduction to PBLA from the Centre for Canadian Language Benchmarks
  • Knowledge and experience with the Canadian Language Benchmarks
  • Knowledge and/or application of Portfolio Based Language Assessment (PBLA)
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to work effectively with teaching colleagues, administrative staff, and the management team
  • Excellent practice and knowledge in the principles of adult learning
  • Demonstrated experience using Learning Management Systems
  • Demonstrated experience using technology as a teaching and learning tool
  • Excellent communication and cross-cultural skills
