Job Title: Naval Communications Specialist

Job Summary:

The Canadian Armed Forces is seeking a skilled Naval Communications Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our communications team, you will be responsible for establishing and managing external voice, radio teletype, and data circuits to provide real-time tactical information in support of operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and manage external voice, radio teletype, and data circuits
  • Provide real-time tactical information in support of operations
  • Maintain communications with national and allied networks
  • Operate radio communication equipment
  • Manage frequency management
  • Perform basic communication procedures
  • Participate in search and rescue events
  • Perform ship maintenance and repairs

Work Environment:

As a Naval Communications Specialist, you will work primarily in the Communications Control Room, Operations Room, on the Bridge, and the Flag Deck. You may also work in office-like conditions in a high-security environment, typically a restricted-access communications facility.

Training and Development:

The Canadian Armed Forces offers a comprehensive training program for Naval Communications Specialists. This includes basic training, Naval Environmental Training, and specialized training in communications security, information systems security, and basic communication procedures.

Requirements:

  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident living in Canada
  • Be at least 18 years old (17 years old with parental consent)
  • Have completed at least Grade 10 or Secondaire IV in Québec
