Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, this role is essential in maintaining operational efficiency and product quality by ensuring the functionality of machinery and mechanical systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Maintain machinery and mechanical systems through preventive maintenance on pumps, gearboxes, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and other production equipment.
- Identify issues by observing machinery in operation, listening for irregularities, and utilizing precision measuring and testing tools.
- Dismantle devices to remove defective components using hoists, cranes, and hand/power tools; assess the condition of parts.
- Inspect used components to determine necessary dimensional adjustments using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
- Adjust functional components and control instruments with hand tools, levels, and straightedges.
- Fabricate replacement parts using machine shop tools and equipment.
- Optimize maintenance resources by utilizing equipment and supplies effectively.
- Compile mechanical maintenance reports by gathering, analyzing, and summarizing relevant data.
- Perform cleaning, lubrication, and adjustments on parts, equipment, and machinery.
- Execute metal cutting and welding to repair or fabricate components and assemble new machinery.
- Ensure the operational condition of industrial production and processing machinery.
- Assist in planning and closing work orders within the maintenance management system.
- Document parts and materials utilized, and initiate requisitions for new supplies as needed.
- Maintain communication among work teams by documenting actions, irregularities, and ongoing requirements.
- Uphold a safe and organized work environment by adhering to established procedures and regulations.
IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL:
- Possess a valid Ontario Industrial Mechanic License 433A (Red Seal Certificate of Qualifications)
- Have a complete set of metric standard tools.
- Be experienced with mechanical devices, pneumatic controls, and welding/cutting techniques.
- Bring a minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Be capable of interpreting mechanical schematics.
- Be available for shift work, including extended hours and weekends.
- Exhibit strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Be able to lift and transport up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Be comfortable walking and/or standing for 70-90% of the shift.
- Be willing to work at heights and in confined spaces.
