Key Responsibilities
  • Mail Processing and Supervision
    • Supervise the processing of all classes of mail in a postal facility, ensuring deadlines and service commitments are met.
    • Set daily priorities and monitor delivery and scanning exceptions.
    • Liaise with other functions in operations to ensure efficient mail movement.
  • Workplace Safety and Health
    • Promote and implement workplace safety and health programs for your work unit.
    • Coach and direct employees on safe work practices to reduce accident frequency and severity.
    • Conduct investigations and report on accident incidents.
  • Leadership and Human Resources
    • Supervise, coach, and provide guidance and leadership to employees, promoting a respectful work environment.
    • Administer human resources processes, including staffing, performance management, and attendance management.
    • Resolve staff issues, including disciplinary action if required.
  • Operational Efficiency and Productivity
    • Evaluate current operational methods and procedures to recommend improvements.
    • Implement changes and communicate with support groups as required.
    • Conduct daily observations of employee productivity and investigate abnormalities.
  • Administrative Tasks
    • Maintain administrative records on volumes processed and employees' time and leave in SAP.
    • Perform administrative tasks related to the operation of the shift.
    • Produce reports and resolve related data issues.
    Requirements
    • Education
      • High School diploma or provincial equivalent (GED) (Equivalent Experience may be accepted in lieu of a High School Diploma)
    • Experience
      • Minimum 1 year experience managing a team OR Minimum 2 years' experience working within a unionized environment
      • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (i.e., understand the major features of each software application)
    • Other Requirements
      • This position may require travel for training/onboarding away from the home office or home region, which may include the need for overnight stays in hotels.
