Your Contribution

As a Machine Learning Engineer at Axon, you will play a key role in designing and implementing the platform utilized by Axon researchers to revolutionize public safety. By collaborating closely with fellow engineers, you will enable advanced AI functionalities for Axon products (Fleet, Axon Body, Axon Air, and more) by facilitating the training, assessment, testing, and deployment of machine learning models. Being part of a multidisciplinary team will expose you to a variety of fields and applications, ranging from computer vision to speech recognition and natural language understanding, including large language models.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement solutions for training and evaluating models on a distributed architecture.
- Enhance the evaluation and training processes of models within Axon.
- Develop innovative, strategic distributed solutions for ongoing model enhancement.
- Deliver cutting-edge solutions to expedite innovation.
- Influence the AI community by creating state-of-the-art solutions for privacy-preserving distributed model training.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
- 8+ years of software engineering experience with a proven history of successful training.
- Proficiency in Python and familiarity with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, Keras, and PyTorch.
- Advanced knowledge and practical experience with at least one cloud platform (e.g., AWS, Microsoft Azure, Oracle, or Google Cloud) and Infrastructure as Code for deploying platforms at scale.
- Experience with CI/CD solutions in the context of MLOps, including automation with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., using Terraform).
- Exceptional problem-solving and software design capabilities.
- Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with scientists, engineers, and ML/product managers.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree/PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Electronics, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
- Hands-on experience addressing Computer Vision or Speech Recognition challenges in a professional setting.
- Demonstrated success in contributing to distributed architectures for model training.
- Familiarity with responsible AI practices, de-biasing, encryption, and de-identification techniques.

At Axon, we are committed to a total compensation philosophy, which includes base pay, bonuses, and stock awards. The starting base pay for this role varies based on geographic market, with a range between USD 161,000 and USD 309,000. Actual compensation is influenced by factors such as level, function, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and geographic market.
