Position Overview:
The successful candidate will possess prior experience in a procurement or supply chain capacity, or alternatively, have a background in plant or production operations. The primary responsibility of the Procurement Specialist will be to acquire ingredients and packaging materials to align with production schedules. Additionally, the role will involve managing maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) supplies necessary for operational efficiency.Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess daily, weekly, and monthly requirements for ingredients and packaging materials, generating purchase orders through the MRP system.
  • Adhere to all company procurement policies with precision, ensuring clarity and completeness from the creation of purchase orders through the accounts payable process.
  • Maintain and enhance existing vendor relationships by monitoring, controlling, analyzing, and optimizing inventory and supply consumption.
  • Expedite and track orders to ensure timely shipping and delivery, addressing any issues related to delivery schedules.
  • Collaborate with the Production Scheduling team and stakeholders, updating all committed shipments and estimated arrival times with relevant teams.
  • Assist the inventory logistics management team as needed, providing regular communication regarding usage updates, damages, and product launch activities.
  • Deliver regular updates to plant leadership and management regarding backorders, aging inventory reports, and liabilities.
Qualifications:
  • A college or university degree in Supply Chain Management or Business is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Completion or enrollment in Supply Chain Management courses is considered an asset.
  • Prior experience in procurement is highly desirable.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment is essential.
  • Must demonstrate agility and a proactive approach to troubleshooting issues.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
