About the Role

The Accounting Technician plays a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and efficiency of our financial processes at Secure Energy. Reporting directly to the Controller, this role is responsible for a wide range of tasks, including maintaining precise financial records, processing transactions, reconciling accounts, and providing essential support for financial reporting and analysis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate financial records by entering and processing accounting transactions into our accounting software.
  • Generate customer invoices, follow up on outstanding receivables, and reconcile customer accounts.
  • Perform daily bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.
  • Provide support in preparing financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements.
  • Assist in maintaining the general ledger, including preparing journal entries and reconciling accounts.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing requested documentation and assisting auditors as required.
  • Participate in special projects or initiatives as assigned by the Controller.

Requirements

  • A degree or diploma in accounting/finance is considered an asset.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in accounting or finance roles.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with colleagues and clients.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (Microsoft D365) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and resolve accounting issues independently.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial reporting.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to navigate changes in priorities, procedures, or systems.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work under tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrate integrity and ethical conduct in handling sensitive financial information.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and contribute to a positive team environment.
  • Willingness to engage in ongoing professional development and stay updated on industry trends and best practices.
