Job Details
We are seeking a talented Tax Professional to join our Edmonton Tax team. As a trusted advisor, you will design solutions for clients that meet compliance and reporting requirements, minimize risk, drive efficiencies and maximize returns.
Responsibilities
- Develop technical skills in areas such as: compilations, reviews, bookkeeping, tax compliance, corporate reorganization and tax planning
- Develop and apply knowledge of Accounting Standards for Private Enterprise (ASPE), the Canadian Income Tax Act and related legislation
- Set-up files for new clients and newly incorporated businesses, manage multiple files simultaneously
- Collect and analyze relevant financial and tax data
- Review, investigate and correct discrepancies and irregularities in financial entries, documents and reports
- Establish charts of accounts and prepare entries for posting to accounts
- Compute taxes owed and prepare tax returns for various types of entities
- Collaborate with client engagement team and build relationships with client contacts
- Research various tax related issues and conclude on their potential implications
- Prepare correspondence, instructions to legal counsel, technical reports, client reporting summaries and presentations outlining engagement findings, facts and highlights on various reorganizations and transactions
- Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes while effectively using MNP internal programs and systems
- Maintain flexibility to travel, as necessary
Requirements
- Completion of, or working towards, a bachelor's degree in commerce or business administration (accounting or finance major is preferred)
- Completion of, or working towards, prerequisites for admission into the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP) upon commencement of employment
- Previous tax or accounting related office experience is considered an asset
- Customer service and/or client service experience is considered an asset
- Experience working with accounting and tax software is considered an asset
