Position Overview:

Role: Labourer

Type: Seasonal Employment

Location: Suncor Fort Hills

Work Schedule: 7 days on, 7 days off rotation (Compressed Work Schedule)

Shift Pattern: Rotating between Days and Nights

Role Responsibilities:

The Labourer is tasked with:

  • Operating all assigned equipment safely and effectively.
  • Maintaining cleanliness of all assigned equipment as per established standards.
  • Communicating any necessary repairs to maintenance personnel.
  • Performing site clean-up and maintenance at work locations.
  • Installing signage in accordance with highway standards.
  • Handling snow and ice removal tasks.
  • Working in varying weather conditions.
  • Painting as required.
  • Properly storing tools and equipment.
  • Setting up and operating de-watering systems.
  • Acting as a flag person when needed.
  • Assisting with loader and equipment operations.
  • Patching walkways and cutting grass.
  • Operating pressure washers and steam trucks.
  • Performing housekeeping duties.
  • Maintaining positive working relationships with customers and colleagues.
  • Completing other related tasks as assigned by the Shift Supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • No prior experience required; experience in road construction or maintenance is preferred.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License is mandatory.
  • Ability to provide a clean driver's abstract.
  • CSTS and OSSA Regional Orientation or OSSA BSO (Basic Safety Orientation) or CSO (Common Safety Orientation) certification.
  • Physical capability to lift 50 pounds or more.
  • Safety-oriented mindset.
  • Willingness to undergo training on various equipment.
  • Ability to work in diverse environmental conditions.
  • Fluency in English (reading, writing, speaking).
  • Comfortable working near water.
  • Must pass a Drug and Alcohol test and Fit for Duty assessment.
  • Additional training certifications beneficial, including Forklift, Heavy Equipment, First Aid, WHMIS, and others.
