About the Role

We are expanding our Strategy Team within the Energy Systems division and are seeking a Senior Techno-Economic Energy Consultant to lead initiatives in grid modernization and system decarbonization. This position entails overseeing and contributing to projects and business development efforts focused on critical issues in the energy transition, including grid modernization, decarbonization strategies, non-wires alternatives, distribution planning, and the dynamics of electric vehicles and utility economics.

This position allows for a flexible work arrangement, typically involving a hybrid schedule where employees may work from various locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead project teams in delivering strategic research studies and analyses, serving as a technical expert or project manager. Responsibilities may include client engagement, proposal development, team leadership, and presentation of findings.
  • Conduct research and analysis on strategic energy transition projects, including resource adoption forecasting, demand flexibility, and benefit-cost analysis.
  • Develop resources and tools to support grid modernization and distributed energy resource strategies, enhancing modeling techniques and design.
  • Collaborate with DNV teams across North America and globally to identify innovative solutions and enhance customer service.
  • Translate client challenges into actionable opportunities.
  • Foster a collaborative environment that promotes interpersonal relationships and knowledge sharing among team members.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality work products, effectively utilizing analysts and consultants to maintain accuracy.

About You

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business, Statistics, Economics, Environmental Policy, Engineering)
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in data analysis, engineering, or market research
  • At least 5 years of experience in the electric utility sector
  • A demonstrated eagerness to learn and adapt to market changes, with an understanding of distributed energy resources and grid modernization trends
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and a passion for using data to convey impactful narratives
  • Experience in business development and driving new initiatives
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide diverse teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to tailor messages for various audiences
  • Comfortable collaborating with team members from diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Proven track record of managing projects to meet quality, budget, and timeline objectives

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business, Statistics, Economics, Environmental Policy, Engineering)
  • Experience in analyzing energy savings and the impacts of energy efficiency, demand response, and distributed energy resources
