Job Summary

Kiewit is seeking an experienced Civil Quality Assurance Manager to support the construction of various projects in Western Canada. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil engineering and materials testing, with a proven track record of managing laboratory operations and ensuring quality standards are met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of the quality control laboratory, ensuring compliance with all safety regulations and quality standards.
  • Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment and instruments, implementing and maintaining laboratory policies and procedures.
  • Develop and implement quality control plans and procedures, conducting tests on construction materials such as soil, concrete, asphalt, and aggregates.
  • Analyze test results and prepare detailed reports, identifying and troubleshooting any quality issues in the construction process.
  • Supervise and train lab technicians and other staff members, assigning tasks and managing workflow within the laboratory.
  • Work closely with project managers and site engineers to ensure quality standards are met on construction projects, providing technical support and expertise to project teams.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all testing activities, preparing and presenting quality control reports to management and clients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a quality control laboratory within the construction industry, including two years of experience supervising quality staff on a construction project.
  • CCIL certified concrete tester.
  • Experience with RCC concrete.
  • Strong knowledge of materials testing procedures and standards (CSA, ASTM, AASHTO, etc.).
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Proficiency in laboratory software and data analysis tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Certification as a Quality Manager (CQM), and/or a P. Eng or similar is preferred.
