As the Engineering Manager for TFE Projects, you will oversee a diverse team of mechanical, electrical, and software engineers. Your leadership will guide the central Test Facilities Engineering group in fulfilling our commitments to clients through the successful planning, development, and execution of significant engineering projects. These initiatives are crucial investments aimed at enhancing engine testing capabilities across various StandardAero locations globally, aligning with the company's strategic growth objectives.
The Test Facilities Engineering group comprises two specialized teams: the TFE Projects team, which focuses on major enhancement projects, and the TFE Services team, dedicated to supporting existing test cells worldwide to ensure their sustainability. These teams collaborate closely to deliver exceptional results through the development and maintenance of critical engine testing infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:Primary Duties
- Direct and support Test Facilities Engineering (TFE) activities, particularly major test cell projects aligned with StandardAero's strategic growth.
- Coordinate resources for planning, scheduling, budgeting, execution, and closure of major test cell projects to ensure timely and high-quality outcomes.
- Lead stakeholder communications related to major test cell projects and initiatives.
- Foster productive relationships across the organization to enhance the management and sustainability of our test facilities.
- Oversee engineering work, including systems design, development, implementation, testing, and release.
- Develop and refine project management tools.
- Analyze existing project methodologies and implement necessary modifications for improvement.
- Review project outcomes and make adjustments as needed.
- Collaborate with leadership to enhance TFE products and services, focusing on the sustainability of test cells.
- Guide staff development through the Management by Objectives (MBO) process in line with strategic TFE goals.
- Ensure the implementation of training programs to enhance engineering staff skills and meet technological advancements.
- Stay informed about engineering trends for application in test facilities and projects.
- Exercise authority in hiring, training, performance evaluation, and employee relations for direct reports.
- Participate in Central Engineering Strategic Teams to assist in developing strategic plans and outcomes.
- Undertake special projects and additional duties as assigned.
- Over 10 years of experience in a multidisciplinary engineering environment focused on large, complex projects within a multi-site organization.
- Proven success in leading teams through large-scale, multidisciplinary projects.
- Ability to build, motivate, and empower a diverse team of engineers across various locations.
- Strong leadership, planning, organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Customer-focused mindset with solid business acumen.
- Familiarity with gas turbine engine test facilities and testing processes.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering.
- Willingness to travel internationally as required.
- Ability to travel up to 35% of the time.
