Job Title: Senior Fisheries Biologist

Cci Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Senior Fisheries Biologist to join our team. As a key member of our environmental planning group, you will be responsible for conducting aquatic assessments, fish rescue/salvage operations, and habitat assessments for energy development, transportation, and utility construction projects.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert advice to project management and personnel on fish and fish habitat potential effects, assessment, permitting, and reporting.
  • Conduct fish population and habitat assessments, pre-construction aquatic habitat assessments, and develop technical reports.
  • Support the regulatory and permitting team by preparing Code of Practice Notifications, approval applications, and DFO Request for Review submissions.
  • Complete field inspections to oversee implementation and monitor compliance with regulatory permits and project plans.
  • Assist in the development of junior and intermediate staff through mentorship.
  • Conduct environmental monitoring, collect water samples, and prepare TSS/NTU relationship analysis and reports.
  • Liaise with clients, construction personnel, and regulators.
Qualifications:
  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. in biology or related field with aquatic assessment experience in Alberta.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in the role of QAES with detailed knowledge of aquatic environments and mitigation measures.
  • Professional Biologist (P.Biol.) in good standing with ASPB.
  • Knowledge of provincial and federal environmental regulatory requirements.
  • Experience operating ATV, boat, and other field equipment.
  • Valid Alberta Drivers License.
