Job Summary

The Patrouilleur(euse) bénévole – Hiver is responsible for ensuring the safety of mountain users, providing first aid, checking trails, and assisting clients as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assure the safety of mountain users by monitoring trails and providing first aid as needed.
  • Check trails for safety and report any hazards to management.
  • Assist clients with questions or concerns.
  • Participate in the maintenance of patroller facilities (salle de repos, clinique, etc.).
  • Provide assistance during emergency evacuations.

Trail Safety

  • Perform daily tasks as assigned by management.
  • Ensure the safety of assigned trails.
  • Open trails by checking conditions and reporting any hazards.
  • Close trails at the end of the day or in emergency situations.
  • Educate clients on mountain safety and etiquette.

Prevention

  • Enforce health and safety protocols with clients.
  • Support prevention efforts in emergency situations.
  • Assist children and beginner skiers as needed.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with other departments to achieve organizational goals.
  • Contribute to a positive and supportive work environment.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Have advanced skiing, telemark, or snowboarding skills.
  • Be able to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Complete a certified first aid course (e.g. INSQ).
  • Complete a mountain first aid course (offered by Mont Sutton).
  • Complete a CR course (level C).
  • Pass oral and practical exams (simulations): ski descent with a stretcher and with an injured person.
  • Previous patrolling experience is an asset.

Work Schedule

  • Variable schedule from opening to closing of the ski season.
