Scope of Work/Position Overview:
Big Brothers Big Sisters Sault Ste. Marie is dedicated to providing exceptional mentoring initiatives for children and adolescents in the community. The Community Engagement Coordinator will undertake responsibilities related to our agency's programs, adhering to the National Standards of service delivery mandated by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada.

Reporting to the Program Manager, the Community Engagement Coordinator will oversee the matching and monitoring of mentors and mentees in our community-based mentorship program. The ideal candidate will also be tasked with designing and implementing group-oriented programs and activities for individuals awaiting matches.

Key Responsibilities:
Case Management

Review and process applications from prospective volunteers, parents, caregivers, and referral organizations. Conduct the onboarding process, which includes pre-screening, interviews, and orientation. Manage all necessary documentation and Vulnerable Sector checks. Provide essential Safety and Pre-Match Training. Maintain comprehensive case notes for compliance purposes. Address any issues or communications involving mentors and mentees. Maintain regular communication with parents, caregivers, and agencies throughout the match. Keep all stakeholders informed about agency events and initiatives. Maintain case notes for files within the assigned caseload. Conduct match closures in accordance with National Standards. Uphold strict confidentiality as outlined in the agency's Privacy and Confidentiality Policy. Complete mandatory match check-ins and updates as part of the Match Support Framework.

Program Coordination

Ensure compliance with program and agency standards, following National Standards. Assist in delivering community programs that support children and youth. Screen and onboard new volunteers and participants for group-based initiatives. Participate in meetings with the Program Manager and provide reports and statistics as required. Document statistics and maintain compliant case files with detailed notes. Adhere to strict confidentiality as per the agency's Privacy and Confidentiality Policy. Perform administrative tasks necessary for activities and events. Plan, coordinate, and execute 1-2 agency-wide events annually. Collaborate with other community organizations to support initiatives and engage volunteers and families through community outreach. Develop and implement activities and programs for children and youth within the agency and the broader community. Assist with agency marketing and promotional efforts, advocating for mentorship programs and activities. Oversee the Big Bunch Program while supporting new initiatives and activities. Record statistics for events and activities, maintaining compliant case files with detailed notes.

Qualifications/Experience:

College Diploma or University Degree in Education, Social or Human Services fields, such as Child & Youth Work, Social Service Work, or Early Childhood Education is considered an asset. Strong oral and written communication skills, proficient in Microsoft Office 365. Excellent problem-solving abilities and capacity to work independently. Familiarity with volunteer resources and experience in the non-profit sector. Ability to engage with individuals of diverse ages and cultural backgrounds. A genuine passion for promoting the health and well-being of children and youth in the community.

Requirements:

Valid Ontario Driver's License and access to a vehicle. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed. Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Check.

Schedule:

35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM (subject to operational requirements).
