Overview of the Position

As a Cybersecurity Operations Specialist at CAE, you will play a crucial role in overseeing various cybersecurity technologies, evaluating and authorizing security requests, enhancing security tools and protocols, generating security reports and metrics, and delivering security assistance for our training facilities across Canada.

Your expertise in information security, network protection, and cybersecurity best practices will be essential, complemented by strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities. You will collaborate closely with fellow security experts, IT personnel, and business stakeholders to uphold the security and compliance standards of our organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and uphold Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policies and procedures to safeguard against unauthorized access, use, disclosure, alteration, or destruction of sensitive information.
  • Administer and configure a variety of cybersecurity technologies, including firewalls, antivirus solutions, encryption methods, VPNs, SIEM systems, and IDS/IPS tools.
  • Evaluate and authorize security requests, including privileged access permissions, firewall configurations, and software installations.
  • Assess and enhance security tools, processes, and controls to improve the overall security posture and efficiency of our networks and systems.
  • Develop and maintain security reports, dashboards, and metrics to effectively communicate the performance of security operations.
  • Conduct monitoring and auditing of security configurations and compliance utilizing Azure Sentinel and Microsoft Defender, while maintaining security policies, standards, and guidelines.
  • Offer guidance on cloud security best practices to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in incident response, providing technical direction, coordination, and support during security incidents.
  • Deliver security support to clients, including conducting security assessments, audits, tests, and reviews, along with providing actionable security recommendations.
  • Stay informed on the latest trends, threats, vulnerabilities, and best practices in the cybersecurity landscape.
  • Engage in security awareness and training initiatives for staff and clients.

Role Distribution

  • Daily Cybersecurity Operations tasks – 80%
  • Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), Metrics, and Reporting – 10%
  • Involvement in Critical Security Incidents – 10%

Qualifications

  • Possession of Government of Canada Security clearance at Secret level or higher.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Cybersecurity operations, ideally within a Government of Canada military context.
  • Willingness to travel to various training centers across Canada as required.
  • Professional certifications in Cybersecurity and cloud technologies, such as CISSP, CCSP, CISM, SANS, AWS, or Azure Sentinel.
  • Proficiency in DLP and other cybersecurity technologies, tools, and frameworks.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity standards, regulations, and best practices, including ISO 27001, NIST, PCI DSS, GDPR, and CMMC.
  • Experience with security tools and services, such as Sentinel, AWS Security Hub, and Azure Security Center.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills in both English and French.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Capability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Strong critical and creative thinking skills to address complex security challenges.
  • Flexibility to assume additional roles and responsibilities as needed.
  • A Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field is considered an asset.
