We are looking for a talented and experienced Yocto Linux Build Engineer to become a vital part of our team at Extreme Networks. The successful candidate will possess a robust background in embedded Linux development and demonstrate proficiency in utilizing the Yocto Project to create tailored Linux distributions for embedded systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement, and sustain Yocto-based build systems for embedded Linux initiatives
  • Tailor and enhance Linux distributions through Yocto tools and recipes
  • Diagnose build complications and deliver prompt solutions
  • Keep abreast of industry developments and innovations in the Yocto Project and embedded Linux development
  • Analyze and refine existing code to boost performance and rectify software issues
  • Create scripts and automation tools to optimize development and testing workflows
  • Engage in code reviews to uphold code quality, maintainability, and compliance with coding standards
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation, encompassing design documents, API documentation, and code annotations
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including software developers, QA engineers, and hardware teams, to ensure effective project delivery
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline
  • 5 years of experience with the Yocto Project in building embedded Linux systems, showcasing a comprehensive understanding of system configuration, package management, and image generation
  • Over 5 years of practical experience in designing, implementing, and refining CI/CD pipelines for software development projects
  • 5+ years of experience in scripting languages such as Python and Bash
  • Profound knowledge of Linux subsystems and networking protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, IPsec, etc.)
  • Familiarity with common security protocols and their architecture (SSH, IPsec, TLS, etc.), along with an understanding of security standard requirements
  • Practical experience with debugging and profiling tools
  • Understanding of open-source development practices and collaboration with open-source communities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
Preferred Additional Skills:
  • Knowledge of Linux kernel, device drivers, and bootloader configuration
  • Experience with GitHub Actions
  • Background in the Enterprise Networking sector
  • Familiarity with Jfrog, Artifactory, and Jenkins
  • Understanding of version control systems (e.g., Git) and build automation tools
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication abilities
