Risk Management Specialist

Join the U.S. Department of Energy and contribute to the advancement of clean energy initiatives while playing a crucial role in risk management.
As a Risk Management Specialist, your primary duties will include:
- Conducting thorough assessments and evaluations of potential risks associated with various programs and operations.
- Proposing effective strategies to mitigate identified security vulnerabilities.
- Preparing comprehensive reports that analyze risk data, ensuring they are customized for the intended audience.
For GS-13 Level: Candidates must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal Service, which includes:
- Analyzing and gathering data related to potential risks at program, operational, or enterprise levels; AND
- Recommending appropriate measures to address identified security risks; AND
- Developing tailored reports on risk findings.
For GS-14 Level: Candidates must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal Service, which includes:
- Analyzing and gathering data related to potential risks; AND
- Proposing effective mitigation strategies for security vulnerabilities; AND
- Creating detailed reports on risk data tailored to specific audiences; AND
- Assisting in formulating new risk management policies and procedures.
Note: There is no substitution of education for specialized experience at the GS-13 and GS-14 levels.
Experience may include both paid and unpaid roles, such as volunteer work through National Service programs, which can provide valuable skills and competencies relevant to this position.
Additional Information: Candidates must meet all security and suitability requirements, including the completion of a background check and the ability to obtain a security clearance at the Q LEVEL.
