Materials Manager

At Buhler Industries Inc., we are seeking a highly skilled Materials Manager to join our team. As a key member of our Operations Management Team, you will be responsible for ensuring the availability of all purchased and manufactured raw materials required for production.
Key Responsibilities:- Drive improvements in the production process using Lean manufacturing techniques to optimize efficiency and reduce waste.
- Plan, direct, and control the movement and transaction of raw materials and products in the plant to meet production schedules.
- Identify and resolve any conditions that could cause production delays, ensuring timely delivery of products to customers.
- Establish and prioritize work schedules and coordinate activities with other work units or departments to meet production schedules.
- Plan and coordinate material required for new product launches, ensuring seamless execution and timely delivery.
- Prepare or oversee the preparation of reports and statistics related to accuracy of company inventories, providing insights for business decisions.
- Assign and review the work of staff engaged in shipping, receiving, storing, distributing, and maintaining inventories of materials, parts, and products.
- Ensure the integrity of finished goods in stock, maintaining high-quality standards.
- Coordinate training of employees in job duties, safety procedures, and company policies, mentoring and guiding their development.
- Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Post-secondary education or equivalent on-the-job experience in production control and raw material planning.
- APICS certification or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum 5 years in a production environment.
- Minimum 5 years of management or supervisory experience in a Lean manufacturing environment, with a focus on inventory management and production control.
- Expert-level experience in an ERP environment.
- Knowledge of WHMIS and hazardous goods procedures.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office.
