Mechanical Engineer

Techo-Bloc is seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our R&D team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, assembling, testing, and coordinating the installation of prototypes. If you have experience in the manufacturing sector and are not afraid to roll up your sleeves, get your hands dirty, and spend time in the factories to advance a project or support your team, this opportunity is for you.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and create 3D CAD models of mechanical systems and parts for new equipment;
- Identify improvements to be made on production lines to increase safety and efficiency;
- Find improvement solutions;
- Support the implementation of new processes;
- Validate designs, calculations, simulations;
- Perform tolerance testing of mechanical parts and assemblies;
- Analyze and help solve technical problems;
- Optimize current equipment to increase production efficiencies;
- Prepare test bench marking;
- Procurement of parts, obtaining best prices and best lead times;
- Participate in the physical assembly of equipment and prototypes;
- Supervise and mentor other engineers/designers and mechanics;
- Participate in project timeline and budget building.
Requirements:
- University degree in Mechanical Engineering;
- Engineer-in-training (EIT) or member of the OIQ (Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec);
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in design, preferably in a manufacturing environment;
- Capacity to work on multiple projects in a fast turnaround environment;
- Excellent expertise of SolidWorks;
- Innovative mind and ability to work as a team;
- Previous experience with conveyor systems;
- Availability to travel occasionally in Quebec, Ontario, and the USA (20% of the time);
- Bilingual English/French – spoken and written (English is necessary to serve our customers in the USA);
- Previous experience or knowledge in welding, machining, or other metalworking will be considered an asset;
- Knowledge of the concrete industry, an asset but not required. Training will be provided.
