Your ResponsibilitiesAs a Field Archaeology Technician, you will:
- Conduct archaeological surveys, test excavations, and mitigation excavations under the guidance of a qualified Permit Holder.
- Work in various environments, adapting to all weather conditions and potentially staying overnight in remote accommodations.
- Assist with office tasks such as field mobilization, artifact analysis, reporting, and research.
- Engage in WSP's Health & Safety initiatives.
- Exemplify a commitment to safety and serve as a role model for colleagues.
To be successful in this role, you should possess:
- A degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a related field, or be nearing completion.
- Basic understanding of Northern Plains and Boreal Forest archaeology and artifact identification.
- The physical capability and willingness to perform fieldwork in challenging conditions.
- Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with data collection tools, including GPS and tablets.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with team members, clients, and Indigenous communities.
- The ability to follow directions and work both independently and as part of a team.
- A valid Class 5 driver's license.
- Certifications in ATV/UTV operation and First Aid are advantageous.
