Your Responsibilities

As a Field Archaeology Technician, you will:

  1. Conduct archaeological surveys, test excavations, and mitigation excavations under the guidance of a qualified Permit Holder.
  2. Work in various environments, adapting to all weather conditions and potentially staying overnight in remote accommodations.
  3. Assist with office tasks such as field mobilization, artifact analysis, reporting, and research.
  4. Engage in WSP's Health & Safety initiatives.
  5. Exemplify a commitment to safety and serve as a role model for colleagues.
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should possess:

  1. A degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a related field, or be nearing completion.
  2. Basic understanding of Northern Plains and Boreal Forest archaeology and artifact identification.
  3. The physical capability and willingness to perform fieldwork in challenging conditions.
  4. Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  5. Familiarity with data collection tools, including GPS and tablets.
  6. Proficiency in MS Office applications.
  7. Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with team members, clients, and Indigenous communities.
  8. The ability to follow directions and work both independently and as part of a team.
  9. A valid Class 5 driver's license.
  10. Certifications in ATV/UTV operation and First Aid are advantageous.
