**Job Summary**
The School District #23 (Central Okanagan) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic professional educator to fill a Full and Part-Time temporary contract position as an Elementary Music Teacher. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching music and a commitment to providing a high-quality education to students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach music classes to elementary students, including concert band, jazz band, and choral programs
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities
- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to promote growth and improvement
- Collaborate with colleagues to implement the school's curriculum and support student learning
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in music education
Requirements:
- British Columbia Professional Teaching Certificate
- Training and/or experience as a music and/or band teacher
- Ability to work in a collaborative team environment to implement the school's curriculum and support student learning
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to use technology for planning, attendance monitoring, and communication
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two years of successful classroom teaching experience in concert band, jazz band, choral, and other music programs
- Experience in differentiating and providing inclusive learning opportunities that reflect the unique needs and interests of all students
- Training/experience in the use of Quality Assessment practices (e.g., differentiated instruction, criterion-referenced grading, Assessment For, As and Of Learning)
- Strong interest in innovation and inquiry
- Indigenous ancestry (as per Special Program with the BC Human Rights Tribunal)
Compensation:
The starting annual salary for this teaching position ranges from $57,972 to $106,217, with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.
