Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Halton Healthcare. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our healthcare organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate, monitor, and maintain life support equipment, including invasive and non-invasive ventilators and anaesthetic gas machines.
  • Perform diagnostic testing, including spirometry and arterial blood gases, to assess patient respiratory function.
  • Initiate, monitor, and discontinue oxygen therapy as needed to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Respond to cardiac arrest codes and high-risk births to provide airway maintenance and resuscitation.
  • Perform intubation as ordered by physicians to ensure patient safety and comfort.
  • Teach patients and staff on respiratory care techniques and protocols to promote knowledge and skill development.
  • Participate in departmental quality assurance activities to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and best practices.
  • Comply with occupational health and safety requirements to maintain a safe work environment.
Qualifications
  • Current registration with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario.
  • Current Heart & Stroke approved Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Requires 3 years of experience in critical care.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Certification (NRP) required.
  • ACLS certification required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of acute care experience required for Milton and Georgetown positions.
  • Experience working effectively in a busy clinical environment.
  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Office).
  • Excellent leadership and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Able to establish positive and supportive relationships with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to work effectively as a collaborative member of the critical care team.
  • Able to meet the physical demands of the position.
  • Satisfactory attendance and employment record required.
