Empire Life is seeking an experienced Actuary Director to join our Retail Actuarial team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for leading the pricing analysis, modelling, and performance monitoring of our Individual Life and Health new business portfolio.

You will collaborate with our Product Development team to review new product opportunities and changes to existing products, and present pricing and risk management recommendations to our senior management teams.

As an Actuary Director, you will be responsible for ensuring all pricing activities are compliant with relevant corporate policies and collaborating with other areas of Empire Life, including Insurance Response Team, Retail Insurance Marketing, Retail Operations, Risk Management, and Corporate Actuarial.

We are looking for an experienced Actuary with advanced actuarial and modelling skills, including practical experience in the pricing of insurance products. You will have a strong working knowledge of spreadsheet, database, and word processing software, as well as a working knowledge of AXIS actuarial application.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the pricing analysis, modelling, and performance monitoring of our Individual Life and Health new business portfolio
• Collaborate with our Product Development team to review new product opportunities and changes to existing products
• Present pricing and risk management recommendations to our senior management teams
• Ensure all pricing activities are compliant with relevant corporate policies
• Collaborate with other areas of Empire Life, including Insurance Response Team, Retail Insurance Marketing, Retail Operations, Risk Management, and Corporate Actuarial

Requirements:

• Completion of FSA and/or FCIA designation
• 8-10 years of relevant work experience in actuarial roles within the life insurance industry
• Advanced actuarial and modelling skills, including practical experience in the pricing of insurance products
• Advanced working knowledge of spreadsheet, database, and word processing software
• Advanced knowledge of AXIS actuarial application
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong influencing skills and the ability to develop recommendations that balance competing objectives
• Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple competing priorities
• Working knowledge of accounting standards and regulatory capital requirements for the Canadian life insurance industry
