About This Opportunity

Black & McDonald Limited is seeking a skilled Estimator to join our Ottawa team. As an Estimator, you will play a critical role in analyzing costs and preparing work take-offs and estimates for construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed estimates of cost of materials, labour, and equipment for construction projects based on contract drawings/specifications, quotations, and schematic drawings.
  • Coordinate price packages with suppliers, subcontractors, owners, designers, and architects regarding tenders.
  • Participate in site reviews, tender reviews, tender hand-offs, project closings, and operational/sector meetings with various stakeholders.
  • Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Liaise with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors to prepare economic feasibility studies on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
  • Conduct material and equipment purchasing for secured jobs.
  • Update and maintain estimating databases.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary education in Engineering or Business/Commerce.
  • 1-3 years' experience in the construction industry.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Project).
