Job Summary

Island Health is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Health Officer to join our team. As a key member of our public health team, you will be responsible for providing medical leadership and expertise to support the development and implementation of public health programs and services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide medical leadership and expertise to support the development and implementation of public health programs and services.
  • Conduct population health assessments and provide recommendations for public health interventions.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community partners and stakeholders to advance public health goals.
  • Enforce public health legislation and regulations in assigned geographic areas.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest public health research and best practices to inform program development and implementation.
Requirements
  • Medical Doctor with Fellowship in Public Health and Preventive Medicine.
  • Master's degree in a related field (e.g. public health, epidemiology, health policy).
  • Experience in community health and core public health programs.
  • Medical License from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to integrate administrative, professional, and operational aspects of public health programs.
