Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Food Service Assistant to join our team at Boston Bar Elementary Secondary School. As a Food Service Assistant, you will play a vital role in the operation of our school meals program, ensuring the health and safety of our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the preparation and serving of food items prior to and during meal periods.
  • Prepare a variety of hot and cold food items and portions, maintaining high standards of quality and presentation.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to food safety guidelines and regulations.
  • Receive, store, and rotate incoming food supplies and materials, accurately recording inventory levels.
  • Operate kitchen equipment, including blenders, stoves, ovens, microwaves, and dishwashers, ensuring proper use and maintenance.
  • Wash, dry, and store kitchen dishes and laundry, maintaining a clean and hygienic environment.
  • Assist with menu planning and ordering food supplies and materials, ensuring timely delivery and inventory management.
Requirements
  • Grade 12 or equivalent education.
  • Food Safe course certification (provided by the employer).
  • Previous experience in domestic or commercial food preparation.
  • Ability to maintain positive working relationships with staff, students, and family members.
  • Physical capacity to unload, stock, and transport food supplies.
  • Valid BC driver's license and access to a vehicle.
