We are seeking a qualified and dedicated On-Call Early Childhood Educator to join our team at the Kootenay/Okanagan Daycare. As an On-Call Educator, you will play a vital role in providing a safe and nurturing environment for children to grow and develop.
Key Responsibilities:- Plan and implement a high-quality program based on the centre's philosophy, promoting the physical, intellectual, emotional, social, creative, and cultural development of children.
- Lead daily activities designed to stimulate the intellectual, physical, and emotional growth of children, encouraging cooperation and participation from all children.
- Create a safe and secure environment, adhering to the B.C. Child Care Licensing Regulations.
- Liaise with co-workers and other professionals to meet the needs of the children, providing interaction with children as a group and on an individual basis.
- Treat each child with dignity, respect, love, sensitivity, and care, using guidance techniques that are age-appropriate, fair, and encourage socially acceptable behavior.
- Monitor and record signs and symptoms of ill health, inform the Room Supervisor, and implement scheduled housekeeping duties.
- Teach health and nutrition, rest habits, and personal hygiene, maintaining hygiene practices and following the policy for administration of medication.
- Administer basic First Aid as required and maintain constant supervision of indoor and outdoor play.
- Maintain a positive liaison with parents, encouraging open communication concerning the needs and progress of their child.
- Early Childhood Educator Certification
- Current First Aid Certificate as per Schedule C of the Child Care Licensing Regulations
- Experience working with children under the age of six
- Experience working with First Nations communities is an asset
- Experience working with confidential information
