About the Role

As a Culinary Specialist, you will be responsible for preparing and serving high-quality meals to our residents. You will work closely with our dietary team to plan and execute menus that meet the nutritional needs of our residents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook meals for residents, following established recipes and dietary guidelines.
  • Plan and execute menus that meet the nutritional needs of residents, taking into account their dietary restrictions and preferences.
  • Work closely with the dietary team to ensure that meals are prepared and served in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure that residents receive high-quality care and services.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 or equivalent education.
  • Certification as an assistant cook, Branch 1, under Regulation 1049.
  • Successful completion of the Food Service Worker Program from a Community College or a registered private career College in Ontario.
  • Valid Food Safety Awareness Certification.
  • Previous experience preparing large quantities of food, preferably in a healthcare or long-term care setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to work accurately, quickly, and safely.
  • Ability to assess and adjust recipe quantities to meet the needs of the Village.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Leadership qualities and ability to direct the food services department in the absence of the cook and the director of food services.
  • Ability to lift a maximum of 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team player.
  • Experience working and communicating with seniors.
