About the Role:
As a Registered Nurse with Alberta Health Services, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team providing high-quality patient care in our 30-bed Long Term Care unit. Your responsibilities will include assessing patient needs, developing and implementing care plans, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care, including administering medications, performing medical procedures, and monitoring patient conditions
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients' physical and emotional needs, identifying areas for improvement and developing targeted care plans
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, therapists, and social workers, to ensure comprehensive care
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and caregivers to ensure informed decision-making and optimal care outcomes
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, contributing to the development and implementation of policies and procedures that enhance patient care
Requirements:
- Completion of an accredited nursing education program
- Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA)
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in long-term care or gerontology
- Knowledge of gerontological nursing principles and practices
- Ability to speak an Indigenous language (an asset)
