Project Technologist

POSITION SUMMARY
The Project Technologist at BC Housing plays a crucial role in ensuring that all projects developed and administered by the organization comply with the appropriate Design and Construction Standards. This involves conducting detailed plan and specification reviews, conducting site inspections during construction, and providing contract administration services. The role also involves monitoring the work of inspectors, architects, other consultants, and general contractors.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
The successful candidate will have the following:
- Diploma from a building, engineering, or architectural technology program or equivalent education to qualify as an Applied Science Technologist (Graduate of an accredited building technology diploma program).
- Considerable progressive experience as a technologist, including experience with contract administration and building inspections. Significant experience with industry-standard construction contracts.
- Considerable training in project management, building envelope principles, industry standards, including regulatory requirements, construction contract administration, and recommended construction practices.
- Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience acceptable to the employer.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct detailed plan and specification reviews to ensure compliance with Design and Construction Standards.
- Conduct site inspections during construction to ensure compliance with Design and Construction Standards.
- Provide contract administration services to ensure compliance with Design and Construction Standards.
- Monitor the work of inspectors, architects, other consultants, and general contractors to ensure compliance with Design and Construction Standards.
REQUIREMENTS
- Diploma from a building, engineering, or architectural technology program or equivalent education to qualify as an Applied Science Technologist (Graduate of an accredited building technology diploma program).

WORKING CONDITIONS
The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects and deadlines. The candidate will also be required to travel on Commission business and work periodic evenings and weekends. A valid class 5 driver's license and satisfactory driving record are required due to the nature of this role. Access to a reliable vehicle will also be required.
