Position: Project Architect
Overview
The structures that shape our everyday surroundings often appear as unchanging elements, anchored to specific times and locations. However, what if our constructed environment — where we reside, learn, engage in leisure, and conduct business — propelled us into the future instead?
Our Architectural practice prioritizes people, acknowledging that our collective journey forward is influenced by the thoughtful and responsive spaces we create. From landmark designs to significant project launches, we invite you to help realize transformative architectural solutions.
Your Role
As a Project Architect within our esteemed Architecture team, you will operate autonomously to guide clients through the planning and execution of projects that are deeply aligned with their needs, financially prudent, and exemplify design excellence. Your expertise ensures familiarity with the design process from inception to completion, including compliance with codes and regulations, contract documentation, estimates, and building standards.
As a key member of our design team, you will be expected to foster a collaborative and engaging atmosphere for the teams you lead while ensuring design quality, outstanding project delivery, and the highest levels of client satisfaction across the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote and inspire creativity, critical thinking, and design excellence.
- Ensure that the overall design vision of the project is reflected in the detailed documentation.
- Oversee the design process from conceptualization through construction administration.
- Facilitate communication with other disciplines, vendors, and contractors.
- Play an active role in the production of project deliverables.
- Engage with clients and conduct presentations.
- Support business development initiatives.
- Assist in identifying and recruiting design personnel.
- Encourage collaboration among Stantec offices.
- Act as a mentor to junior design staff and interns.
- Assess the quality of design and design-related activities.
- Participate in performance evaluations, including setting career objectives.
- Engage staff in discussions about design.
- Identify and direct project photography and media.
- Serve as an ambassador for the firm's portfolio of work.
Qualifications
- Ability to engage in innovative and analytical thinking.
- Strong presentation and interview capabilities.
- Proven leadership on large, complex projects.
- Open to design critiques and able to respond constructively.
- Review the work of others for accuracy and thoroughness.
- Interpret sketches, drawings, codes, and building programs effectively.
- Exhibit professionalism and cultural sensitivity.
- Demonstrate knowledge of building construction systems.
Education and Experience
- A professional degree in Architecture (Bachelor's or Master's) is required.
- Registered Architect in the relevant province.
- A minimum of 8 years of professional experience is necessary.
- Experience providing consulting services to Higher Education clients is advantageous.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite is expected.
