As a Visiting Nurse, you will deliver essential healthcare services directly in clients' residences. Your role encompasses comprehensive physical evaluations, symptom management, palliative support, rehabilitation services, wound care, education, and counseling for individuals and their families.
Role Summary
Registered Nurses will offer expert nursing consultation on a broad spectrum of healthcare matters pertinent to older adult clients. You will advocate for programs that address community needs and deliver outstanding nursing care to clients and their caregivers, adhering to the philosophy, policies, and procedures of VON Canada.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver and oversee high-quality nursing care tailored to the needs of individuals and families within the community.
- Educate and delegate responsibilities to various levels of healthcare workers, family members, and others, in line with the standards set by VON and the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Adhere to all relevant standards, policies, procedures, and legislative mandates.
- Engage as an active member of the healthcare team in pertinent committees and working groups.
Required Qualifications
- Registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario and a graduate from an accredited nursing program.
- Proven skills in observation, independent assessment, and health education.
- Experience in providing nursing care to adults and seniors.
- Proficient in using software for client documentation, word processing, and communication.
- Experience in conducting thorough nursing assessments.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication abilities.
- Current CPR C / First Aid certification is mandatory.
- Possession of a personal vehicle, a valid driver's license, and proof of vehicle insurance is required.
- A satisfactory Criminal Records Check is necessary upon employment commencement.
- A vulnerable sector search and/or child abuse registry check may be required.
- Ability to communicate in French is advantageous in designated areas.
- Must be capable of utilizing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Work Environment and Physical Demands: Fast-paced setting; Attention to detail; Ability to lift and carry using proper techniques; Engage in various physical activities such as bending, pushing, pulling, gripping, reaching, kneeling, and crouching; Capable of walking, sitting, standing, and climbing stairs; Fine motor skills required.
