Position Overview

Education Requirements
  • Completion of secondary (high) school graduation certificate is required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate the cash register efficiently.
  • Process various forms of payment including cash, cheques, and credit/debit cards.
  • Scan items accurately and tabulate total payments for goods or services.
  • Receive payments and ensure accurate cash handling.
  • Calculate daily or shift payments received and reconcile with total sales.
  • Engage in suggestive selling to enhance customer experience.
  • Maintain stock levels on shelves and ensure cleanliness of the counter area.
  • Provide excellent customer service and greet customers warmly.
  • Wrap or bag merchandise for customers.
  • Calculate foreign currency exchanges when necessary.
  • Monitor entrances and exits, ensuring proof of payment is requested when needed.
  • Participate in promotional activities to drive sales.
  • Verify customer age for the sale of restricted items such as lottery tickets, alcohol, or tobacco products.
Technical Skills
  • Familiarity with electronic cash registers and Interac machines.
  • Ability to use price scanners and computerized inventory systems.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Capability to handle physical demands including standing for extended periods and managing heavy loads.
  • Attention to detail is crucial.
