Qualifications and Requirements

**Registration with a Professional Nursing Association**: Island Health requires registration with a recognized nursing association as a practicing RN registrant.

**Education and Experience**: Recent experience in acute medical/surgical nursing, and completion of a basic arrhythmia interpretation course, or an equivalent combination of education, skills, and training.

Key Skills and Abilities
  • **Effective Communication**: Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • **Workload Management**: Demonstrated ability to organize assigned workload and set priorities.
  • **Arrhythmia Interpretation**: Demonstrated ability in arrhythmia interpretation as evidenced by successful completion of a basic arrhythmia course within the past year, or a mark of 75% on an ECG Challenge Exam.
  • **Interpersonal Skills**: Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with a variety of internal and external contacts, including co-workers, physicians, community agency representatives, patients, residents, and families.
  • **Physical Demands**: Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
