About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Instrumentation and Control Systems Engineer to join our team at Ausenco. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing instrumentation and control systems for various industrial projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the engineering and design team to develop instrumentation and control systems for industrial projects.
  • Develop capital cost estimates for feasibility studies and detail engineering proposals.
  • Monitor costs associated with the selection, cost, and installation of instrumentation and control system equipment.
  • Design instrumentation-related engineering deliverables, including instrument indexes, installation details, location drawings, datasheets, wiring drawings, loop drawings, P&IDs, material requisitions, evaluation of alternatives, and selection of instruments.
  • Design controls-related engineering deliverables, including logic drawings, termination/wiring diagrams, block diagrams, panel layouts, control system topology/control system architecture, control narrative, and cable schedule.
  • Participate in HAZOP reviews and other technical, constructability, and quality reviews.
About You

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Instrumentation and Control Systems Engineer who possesses the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, and Instrumentation or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience as an instrumentation and control engineer in heavy industry.
  • Registered with P.E.O. as a P.Eng or eligible to register with P.E.O. as a P.Eng. within the next year.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical, communication (oral and written), and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, multi-task, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary project team including process, mechanical, civil-structural, electrical, instrumentation, and CAD support.
  • Working knowledge of codes, standards, regulations, and practices.
  • Familiarity with hardware requirements of PLC, SCADA, and DCS control systems.
  • Knowledge of Industrial IT, including Ethernet networking systems, is an asset.
  • Experience with communication protocols such as DNP, Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, IEC 61850 is an asset.
  • Previous experience in mining projects, as well as experience with Smart Instrumentation and Smart P&ID, would be an advantage.
